Creating a grim portrayal of war\u2014a game that shifts away from the industry\u2019s action movie-like depictions to show the struggle of survival from a down-to-earth civilian perspective\u2014was a risk. Yet, 11 bit studios couldn\u2019t be prouder of what <\/span>This War of Mine<\/span><\/i><\/a> has accomplished in the decade since its release.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

The game\u2019s stark portrayal of reality, where morality erodes under the weight of war, has transcended the boundaries of the gaming industry, earning a place in prestigious exhibitions such as those at the <\/span>Imperial War Museum<\/b> in London and the <\/span>Museum of Modern Art<\/b> in New York. Through <\/span>charity DLC<\/b>, the game continuously <\/span>raises funds for War Child<\/b>, an organization dedicated to supporting children affected by war. Following Russia\u2019s brutal invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, all proceeds from one week of <\/span>This War of Mine<\/span><\/i> sales were donated, generating <\/span>$850k for the Ukrainian Red Cross<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Furthermore, <\/span>This War of Mine<\/span><\/i> has influenced academic settings globally, offering lecturers a unique way to <\/span>educate students on the harsh realities of war<\/b>. It became the first video game to be officially recognized as <\/span>\u201csupplementary material\u201d by Poland\u2019s Ministry of Education<\/b>, with an educational version available for free on the government website for Polish students and teachers. Recently, the game received a <\/span>Special Recognition Award from Amnesty International<\/b>, honoring its role in raising awareness of international humanitarian law.
